Baseball 09

Who will win Region 4? I'd say Spanish Fork is the favorite, but I picked the Dons last year and Lone Peak surprised everyone. Timpanogos finished fourth and won the state tournament. Let's hear from you. Who will win Region 4?

Baseball 09 region 4

Post  jackattack on Thu Jan 22, 2009 6:32 am

Only 5 weeks left and another season begins. With SF's talent returning ie. The Dukes, they should be favored, however, Timp. will be tough again coming off their championship, and having probably the best coach in the state, let alone the region, so I'm picking American Fork to win it all, and compete on the last day of the state tournament. Why? Mooney, Fischer, and Deursch, three first team all state players, I beleive this year. They will carry this team, and the supporting cast will be just young enough (with varsity eperience) and underclassmen who can play that they will not choke. This team will be the surprise of the state. Last year they were the only team to beat both state champions of 4A and 5A going 3-0 against them. Swept Timp. and beat Cottonwood at their place. The coaching was a mess most of the season and especially in their last playoff game. I believe Ingersoll learned a lesson last year and will be the man in charge and not let his assistants talk him out of his gut feelings (ie. pulling position players and pitchers, over experimenting, and just pure stupidity by the coaches). If this team will work hard, stay humble, and survive the early season as they move into region, they will be a force.

Wow, A.F. to win it all? I like your optimism, but I must disagree. A.F. always seems to surpass expectations, but no way to they win Region 4. I don't even see how they can get in the state tournament with just three berths in Region 4.

Lone Peak anyone?

How can you forget about Lone Peak?? They have their 1-6 hitters all back with 5 of those hitting over .400 last year. They have 5 or 6 players that will end up playing D1 baseball. Dillon Robinson, Kade Andrus, Adam Kelsch, Jacob Hanneman, Ryan Stephan, and there are a couple others that will play at colleges somewhere whether it be D1 or not. I think you have to look at the defending region champs before anyone else. Lets remember they only lost 4 seniors.
