Region 7 2nd Half

Post  putah67 on Mon Apr 21, 2008 7:05 pm

Finally!!! 12 days off for Spring Break is ridiculous! Why can't they keep playing like Region 4 did? Hallelujah, it's even above 35 degrees. Playing in the snow and freezing rain has been brutal.

My predictions (worth what I got paid for them...nothing!)

I really don't expect MV to pull off the undefeated in Region record but I do think they'll take it. They could be shocked if their pitchers and hitters don't both click. They're a bit iffy to me on defense at times too but strong in the important spots. Will they have anything back next year?

Orem is ripe to be surprised by a few of the other teams. Their depth is highly suspect and if their top two don't hit they really don't have much offense. I really don't expect their pitching to do so well the second time around.

Springville...it's just Springville. They play really well against Spanish Fark (I know, it's spelled wrong on purpose) and then not so well against others. They'll stay where they're at...third. I wouldn't be shocked if they beat one of the Orem teams and then lost to Payson and/or Provo.

Provo/Payson/Tooele are in a logjam for 4th. This will go down to the wire between the two green P (ha, ha) teams. Tooele will fade...maybe the travel will start to get to them. Horrible break having to be in Region 7. Provo and Payson will fight it out seeing who can pull off the most upsets of the higher teams. I see each of them beating at least one of the above teams and possibly more. They both have pitching and hitting if they can put it together. I actually expect whichever one of these goes to the playoffs to surprise someone there as well. Why not, Provo came in 3rd in Region and State last year. How many of the Payson boys is Haney taking with him to Salem?

Timpview---Yikes, are they bad. Mr. Moe would have to hit 3 homers in a game for them to have a small chance of winning a game. Hard to understand where all the great athletes go from TV during baseball season. Must have a great flag football team in Adult City League or something.

Neil, What do you think?

Got one right!

One green P (Provo) got an upset and the other green P (Payson) couldn't finish the job.

Sounded like Geslison pitched a gem for Provo and they finally got some timely hitting.

Springville exploded for 5 runs in what was a very close game til then.

Orem's probably very happy today that MV came back to them a game but not they face Provo Thursday and we'll see what happens then. I think Moore was a bit too bold saying they'd win out the region games in the DNews.

Too bad the rainy weather is back.

Here's my take on Region 7. I didn't think Mountain View would go undefeated in reigon play. The Bruins don't have the pitching depth. I think Provo will come on. The Bulldogs' offense wasn't as bad as they showed during that bad stretch.
I like the mix Springville has in pitching and hitting. How about Ben Doxey? He is on fire. I wouldn't be surprise if the Red Devils run the table from here on out.
Orem is the biggest surprise to me. I've already raved about Adamson, so let me give credit to Sargent, Baird and Mella. They've come up big.
I look for Tooele to fade and for Payson to finish 5th.

No conversation?

Post  putah67 on Fri Apr 25, 2008 4:08 pm

I'm rather disappointed in the total lack of conversation here. I see where there's been over a hundred views but noone wants to talk.

Funny how parents are so afraid of coaches' reactions to anything they may say.

Springville is SILENT compared to last year. I guess winning takes care of a lot of things.

My predictions are pretty accurate so far although I didn't see Provo beating both Orem teams. Good job boys. Helps the green P-doggies a lot to have an ace back but 12 walks and only scored 3? Shame on you Tigers. That's just sad. Speaking of really sad, that's Timpview. Do you smell that?

MV at Orem today is a huge battle for 1st. Fun when a crosstown rivalry has a little added meaning.
